The difference between ring main unit and switchgear.


For newbies who have just touched electrical equipment, switchgear and ring main unit are ignorant. Due to their appearance, they may feel like identical twin babies, which is a headache. Therefore, what are the differences between ring main unit and switchgear.


From the perspective of power supply and distribution, most large, medium, and small capacity distribution transformers generally do not exceed 1250KVA, with long-term stable power supply and infrequent operation of high-voltage circuit breakers. For this type of customer, although the characteristics of the ring main unit are not perfect, it meets sufficient standards. The ring main unit can create a fully enclosed loop for the power supply main line, and the power supply switch power supply supplies power to the ring main line, distributing power from the main line through a high-voltage circuit breaker.
Switch cabinet
The benefit of doing so is that each distribution loop can not only take the switching power supply together with the left main line, but also take the switching power supply from the right main line. When there is an abnormality on the left main line, it will supply power from the right main line again, and when there is an abnormality on the right main line, it will supply power from the left main line again. That way, although the main switch power supply is single-sided, from each distribution loop, it is similar to dual power supply, thereby enhancing the stability of power supply.

Generally speaking, ring main units can be used as distribution rooms for power supply bureaus! Make your home not just a switch power supply cabinet, but also connect two or more wires to a ring network. What's wrong with that route? It's not easy to lose power and is very necessary for urban residents and factories and mining enterprises.

A switchgear is an electrical device.

The internal and external wires of the switch cabinet are led to the power switch of the main control chip inside the cabinet. Then enter the sub control power switch. Set up each branch as needed. Like instruments and equipment. Automatic control system. Electric motor magnetic power switch, various DC contactors, etc. Some are also equipped with high-voltage and low-voltage switchgear, as well as high-voltage busbars, such as power stations. Some are also equipped with low cycle load shedding to maintain critical machinery and equipment. The key role is to switch, operate, and maintain electrical equipment in the power generation, transmission and distribution, distribution, and electromagnetic energy conversion processes of the power supply system. The components inside the switchgear are mainly composed of isolation switches, high-voltage isolation switches, load switches, practical operation organizations, voltage transformers, and various protective equipment.

Ring main unit refers to a switchgear (group outgoing switchgear) set up for each distribution loop, and the busbar trunking of the switchgear is part of the circular main line. In other words, the circular main line is composed of the bus ducts of each outgoing cabinet, and each outgoing cabinet is called a ring main unit.

In fact, independently removing a ring main unit does not reveal the meaning of a ring network. The high-voltage circuit breaker in the ring main unit is generally a load switch. The load switch used for the ring main unit is operated normally, and the short-circuit capacity is disconnected with a fuse. The fusion of the two replaces the isolation switch. Naturally, this is limited to a certain volume. This type of switchgear can also be used for distribution system software with non ring network construction. Therefore, with the widespread use of such switchgear, ring main units have emerged from the scope of ring network distribution, generally referring to high-voltage switchgear dominated by load switches.
