In the net zero emissions (NZE) scenario by 2050, battery energy storage will account for 90% of energy storage growth, and by 2030, it will increase 14 times to 1200GW. In 2022, the global industrial and commercial energy storage growth rate was only 14.58%, but by 2023, the newly installed capacity will reach 1.8GW, a year-on-year increase of 115%. The global industrial and commercial energy storage market is mainly concentrated in China, the United States, and Europe represented by Germany. 1. Application scenarios:
(1) Peak shaving and valley filling: store electricity during periods of low electricity prices and discharge during periods of high electricity prices to save electricity costs.
(2) Backup power supply: In the event of a power grid failure, provide emergency backup power to ensure the continuity of production and operation.
(3) Improving the utilization rate of renewable energy: Combining with renewable energy such as photovoltaics and wind power, storing excess electricity, and improving energy utilization efficiency.
(4) Load management: Balance the electricity load within the park and reduce the pressure on the power grid.
2. Characteristics:
(1) Moderate scale: The capacity of energy storage systems typically ranges from several hundred kWh to several MWh.
(2) Flexible deployment: The system design is flexible and adaptable to various power and capacity requirements.

(3) Cost effectiveness: By saving electricity costs, providing backup power, and other means, investment returns can be quickly achieved.


2、 Definition of large-scale energy storage:
Large scale energy storage systems usually refer to energy storage projects with large capacity, mainly used for power grid level power regulation and stability, serving power companies and large-scale power infrastructure. The product structure is mainly based on containers, divided into DC side systems and medium voltage converter systems.
1. Application scenarios:
(1) Power frequency regulation: Quickly respond to fluctuations in grid frequency and maintain grid stability.
(2) Peak shaving and valley regulation: providing power support during peak demand periods and storing excess power during low demand periods.
(3) Backup power supply: providing large capacity backup power in the event of large-scale power outages or power shortages.
(4) Renewable energy grid connection support: Smooth out the output fluctuations of renewable energy such as wind power and photovoltaics, and promote their large-scale grid connection.
2. Characteristics:
(1) Large scale: Energy storage systems typically have capacities ranging from tens of MWh to hundreds of MWh.
(2) Complex system: The design and operation are complex, requiring consideration of various factors such as power grid demand and scheduling strategies.

(3) High investment: The initial investment is relatively large, but with technological progress and economies of scale, the cost gradually decreases.

Industrial and commercial energy storage differ from large-scale storage in terms of application scenarios, system scale, functions, and characteristics. Industrial and commercial energy storage focuses on meeting the electricity needs of specific locations, providing cost-effectiveness and operational support, while large-scale energy storage mainly serves grid level regulation and stability, solving larger scale power supply and demand balance problems.
